Your mission

As our Operations Specialist, you will play a key role in supporting and optimizing daily terminal operations in Amsterdam. You will be responsible for coordinating operational activities, monitoring service performance, and ensuring effective communication and collaboration between internal teams, customers, carriers, terminals, and other external stakeholders. Through your proactive approach, you will help ensure smooth operations, high service quality, and efficient process execution across the supply chain.

Your main responsibilities will include:

Operations Planning & Coordination:
  • Support the Operations Manager in the planning, coordination, and execution of daily terminal operations in Amsterdam.
  • Coordinate vehicle movements, workshop activities, and transportation-related processes to ensure smooth operational execution.
  • Monitor operational priorities, open actions, and deadlines, ensuring tasks are completed accurately and on time.
Customer & Stakeholder Management:
  • Serve as a key point of contact for operational inquiries and customer service requests.
  • Coordinate closely with customers, carriers, terminal operators, service providers, and other business partners to ensure efficient communication and issue resolution.
  • Escalate operational risks and disruptions where necessary and support the implementation of timely corrective actions.
Operations Monitoring & Performance Control:
  • Monitor daily terminal activities and vehicle flows to ensure operational efficiency and service quality.
  • Track vehicle status, load planning, throughput, and delivery progress while proactively identifying potential bottlenecks.
  • Monitor supplier and service provider performance and report deviations or improvement opportunities to the Operations Manager.
Continuous Improvement:
  • Identify operational inefficiencies and support initiatives aimed at improving processes, service quality, and overall performance.
  • Contribute to the standardization of operational procedures and drive the resolution of recurring issues.
Reporting & Administration:
  • Maintain accurate operational records, tracking tools, and follow-up reports.
  • Support KPI monitoring and performance reporting by providing timely and reliable operational data.
  • Prepare regular updates and reports to support decision-making and operational excellence.

Your profile

  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field; equivalent professional experience will also be considered.
  • 3–5 years of experience in logistics, automotive logistics, terminal operations, transportation, or a similar operational environment.
  • Strong planning, organizational, and coordination skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven problem-solving abilities and the capability to make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Service-oriented mindset with a proactive and hands-on approach to operational challenges.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with customers, carriers, service providers, and internal teams.
  • Good understanding of logistics processes, transportation operations, and supply chain activities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Business-fluent English and Dutch are required; German language skills are considered an advantage.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to an international and multicultural team environment.
